Enabling Weight Embedded Barcode
Activating the “Weight Embedded Barcode “ feature allows the system to recognize the numbers that follow the item barcode as the weight calculated from weighing devices or the price calculated for that weight. The system automatically adjusts the item quantity on the invoice by directly reading the weight from the barcode label or by calculating that weight by reading the price.
Example: A “product” is defined to be priced at 10 per 1 kilogram.
- If the barcode reading indicates that the item is a “product” weighing 0.5 kilograms… 0.5 will be added to the quantity field and 10 will be added to the price field on the invoice automatically.
- If the barcode reading indicates that the item is a “product” priced at 15… 1.5 will be added to the quantity field and 10 will be added to the price field on the invoice automatically.
- From the main menu, click on “Inventory“.
- Click on “Products Settings”.
- Click on “Barcode Settings”.
- Check the option “Enabling Weight Embedded Barcode”.
- Configure the format of the barcode labels for items after they are printed from weighing devices:
- Letter X: Represents the barcode numbers of the item itself. Add the number of these in accordance to the barcode numbers registered in the product files within the software.
- Example: If products in the account have barcodes consisting of 10 digits, then enter the letter X 10 consecutive times.
- Letter W: Represents the value related to the weight printed on the barcode label. Add the number of W letters equivalent to the digits indicating the product weight.
- Example: If the product’s barcode label with a weight of 1.5 kilograms is printed as 01500, then add 5 W letters to the barcode encoding.
- Letter P: Represents the value related to the price printed on the barcode label. Add the number of P letters equivalent to the digits indicating the product price.
- Example: If the product’s barcode label with a sale price of 20.50 is printed as 20500, then add 5 P letters to the barcode encoding.
- Example 2: If the product’s barcode label with a sale price of 150.25 is printed as 0150250, then add 7 P letters to the barcode encoding.
- Letter N: Represents a value to be ignored and serves as an indication of the end of the barcode encoding.
- Letter X: Represents the barcode numbers of the item itself. Add the number of these in accordance to the barcode numbers registered in the product files within the software.
- Enter the value in the Weight Unit Divider field as follows:
- If the barcode label being read displays the product’s weight in grams, and the invoice in the software is created in kilograms, enter the value 1000 in the field.
- If the barcode label being read displays the product’s weight in kilograms, and the invoice in the software is also in kilograms, enter the value 1 in the field.
- Enter the value in the Currency Divider field as follows:
- If the barcode label being read displays the sale price in the smallest currency unit (halala, cent, penny, etc.), enter the value 100 in the field.
- If the barcode label being read displays the sale price in the main currency unit (riyal, pound, dirham, dinar, etc.), enter the value 1 in the field.
