How to View the Sales Activity Report by Cost Center
Enerpize’s sales reports don’t offer filtering by cost center, but you can achieve the same result through the Ledger report, which allows you to select the sales account and filter it by one or more cost centers, displaying each center’s movements in two independent columns.
Steps to View the Report
- From the main menu, click on “Reports.”
- Click on “Accounting Reports.”
- Open the “Ledger” report.
- Specify the From / To period.
- From the Account Type field, select “Sub-Account.”
- From the Account field, select the sales account — you can select more than one account together.
- From the Cost Centers field, select the required center, or several centers.
- Click “Show Report.”
Reading the Report's Results
The report displays the columns: Journal ID a transaction ID, date, staff, description, then three sets of debit and credit columns:
- Cost Center Transactions: the movement value allocated to the cost center.
- Transaction: the movement value on the account.
- Balance: the balance after the movement.
The report begins with a “Balance Before” line and ends with a “Subtotal” line for each account, followed by a “Total” for the entire report.
Useful Additional Options
- Display All Accounts: you can limit the report to accounts that have transactions within the period instead of displaying all accounts.
- Without Cost Centers: an option within the cost centers list that shows movements with no assigned center, the fastest way to discover invoices where assigning a cost center was forgotten.
- Journal Branch, Currency, and Added By: for further narrowing.
- Export to CSV to export the result, and “Reset” to reset the filters.
Important Notes
- The result is accounting-based, not analytical. The report displays movements on the sales account, not invoice details like items, quantities, and clients the way sales reports do.
- A movement only appears if a cost center was specified on it at the time it was recorded. Invoices created without a cost center can be found via the “Without Cost Centers” option.
