Why is the M-PESA payment amount rounded up?

M-PESA only processes whole Kenyan Shilling amounts. If the invoice balance includes a decimal (e.g. KES 1,500.50), the system automatically rounds it up to the nearest whole shilling (KES 1,501) before sending the STK Push request to Safaricom. This rounding only applies to the amount sent to M-PESA and follows Safaricom’s requirements.
