Editing Project Information
The system allows you to edit the details of any previously created project, updating its general information, status, or linked parties. This guide explains the required permissions, the steps to access the edit screen, the editable fields, and the restrictions on some of them.
Permissions
The user must have the “Edit All Projects” or “Edit His Own (Created) Projects” permission to be able to edit a project’s information.
Steps to Edit
- From the main menu, click on “Construction”, then click on “Projects”.
- Search for the project you want to edit, and click its “View” or “Edit” action.
- If you entered from the view screen, click the “Edit” button shown in the action bar.
Project Information
The edit form contains the same fields as the add screen, pre-filled with the project’s current data:
- Title, Project No., Client, Bid, Parent Cost Center, Budget, Cost Tracking Level, Duration, Start Date, End Date, Tags, Assigned Employees, Description, and Attachments.
- Note: Refer to the “Add New Project” manual for more details.
Restrictions on Fields Linked to a Bid
If the project is linked to a bid, some fields become read-only and cannot be edited directly from the project screen, in order to preserve data consistency between the project and its linked bid. These fields typically include: Title and Client, since their values are derived from the original bid.
Note: To edit these specific fields, you’ll need to update them from within the bid itself instead of the project screen.
Header
- Save as Draft: saves the changes while keeping the project’s status as “Draft” (if it was already in that status).
- Cancel: discards the changes, and returns you to the project view screen without saving anything.
- Save: saves the changes to the project’s information.
Validation Rules on Save
- The same validation rules used on the add screen apply here; if a required field is left empty, the message “Required” appears.
- The Start Date cannot be after the End Date; otherwise, the message “End Date should be a date after Start Date” appears.
On Successful Save
- The changes are saved, and you are redirected to the project view screen.
- A success message appears confirming the project’s information was updated successfully.
