What Does the Error “Received date is required when the invoice is marked as delivered” Mean When Importing Invoices?

This message appears when saving an invoice that is marked as Delivered while the Received Date field is empty. When an invoice is marked as delivered, the date on which the client received the goods must be entered, so the system refuses to save the invoice until this field is filled in.

How Do You Read the Message?

Part of the Message The Meaning
Received date is required when the invoice is marked as delivered The received date is required because the invoice is marked as delivered.
Invoice # The invoice number, and it appears empty if it is a new invoice whose number hasn’t been saved yet.

The Solution

Choose one of the two solutions according to the invoice’s status:

The Case What to Do
The goods were already delivered to the client Enter the date on which the client received the goods in the Received Date field, then save the invoice.
The goods haven’t been delivered yet Clear the Delivered selection, then save the invoice. You can mark it as delivered later from editing the invoice when it is delivered, while entering the received date.

🛈

Note: The received date is the date the goods were delivered to the client, and it may differ from the invoice date. Enter it precisely because it is used to follow the invoices’ delivery status.

Notes

  • The same rule applies when editing an old invoice and marking it as delivered.
  • If the message appears even though you entered the date, make sure the date is written in a correct format, then try again or contact technical support.
  • You can follow the delivered and undelivered invoices from Manage Invoices.
