National Address / Short Address (E-Invoicing Requirements)
The system validates client address data before sending any invoice to the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA). Some address requirements have changed — this guide explains what is required now and what is no longer mandatory.
Required Fields for Clients Inside Saudi Arabia
To successfully send an invoice for a client based in Saudi Arabia, the following address fields must be present:
- Street (Required)
- City (Required)
- District / Region (Required)
- Country (Required)
Fields That Are No Longer Mandatory
- Building Number: No longer mandatory — its absence does not block submission.
- Postal Code: No longer mandatory — its absence does not block submission.
If a Building Number or Postal Code is entered, the system validates its format. An incorrect format may still block submission — make sure the format is correct when entering these fields, or leave them empty if you are unsure.
Foreign Clients (Outside Saudi Arabia)
Saudi national address requirements do not apply to clients based outside Saudi Arabia — only Street, City, and Country are needed, with no requirement for a Building Number, Postal Code, or District.
Automatic Address Cleaning
The system automatically cleans client address data before every submission by removing hidden characters, invisible formatting characters, and unusual spacing. This prevents valid addresses from being rejected by ZATCA due to minor technical issues caused by how data was copied or imported.
5. What Happens if Address Data Is Incomplete?
If the system detects missing required address data when attempting to submit:
- POS Invoices: The invoice is always saved even with incomplete data — a shortcut appears on the invoice that opens the client edit page to complete the address and resubmit.
- Non-POS Invoices: The user is directed to the client panel embedded inline within the invoice to complete the missing data.
Note on Validated Invoices
Once an invoice has been accepted and validated by ZATCA, the system protects the address data linked to it from any edits that would conflict with the document already accepted by the authority.
